TOMATO SEVAI






Ingredients:

  • Ready made Sevai sticks : 1 Pkt  (Else its another long process to make these sevai.You can also use frozen Iddiyappam or can check my "Home Made Iddiyappam" for this.)
  • Onion : 1
  • Tomato : 1 Big
  • Green Chillies : 2
  • Ginger : 1/4 inch
  • Garlic (Optional) : 1
  • Curry Leaves : 1 stick.
  • Mustard seeds : 1 tsp
  • Cashew : 4
  • Channa Dal : 1 tsp
  • Oil : 1 tbsp

Method:

  1. Soak the rice sevai sticks in warm water for about a minute or two.
  2. If u r using Iddiappam, thaw it, break them into small sticks. NO NEED TO SOAK IN WATER.
  3. Drain the sticks in colander.
  4. Cut onion,tomato,green chillies,ginger,garlic,curry leaves.
  5. If required,u can even steam the sevai in idly cooker for about 5 minutes..otherwise u can just give enough time for the sevai to drain.
  6. Heat oil and Tamper the seasonings.
  7. Follow frying by adding onion,ginger,garlic,and lastly tomatoes.
  8. Add little Turmeric powder so that the colour sticks to the sevai.
  9. Lower the flame to a minimum and add the sevai and mix well.
  10. Turn off the heat and mix well so that the tomatoes and sevai blend together.
  11. Serve with nice mint Chutney or can be eaten like that itself with a glass of yogurt drink!!
  12. Those who are diet conscious can have this dish without an guilty feeling!!Its healthy as the sevai is nothing but steamed rice sticks!
